诗文	潘鼎新
释义	潘鼎新安徽庐江人。字琴轩。道光举人。1857年(咸丰七年)在安徽投军。1861年受曾国藩命，募勇建淮军鼎字营。1862年(同治元年)随李鸿章至上海，在苏南、浙北一带进攻太平军。1865年赴山东镇压捻军。1876年(光绪二年)署云南巡抚。1884年中法战争时，署湖南巡抚，旋调广西巡抚，率军驻守谅山。次年2月法军大举攻城时，不战而退，致谅山失陷，镇南关(今友谊关)一度失守。旋被革职，后回原籍。
